Match number 33 of IPL 2021 will witness a clash between teams that are on the opposite ends of the leaderboard, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. While Delhi had a stellar first half, Hyderabad experienced its worst campaign. Delhi team looks more solid with Shreyas Iyer back in the squad, and Rishab Pant will continue to lead the team this entire season. Hyderabad will have the big-hitting Aussie David Warner opening the batting but will miss Jonny Bairstow, their leading scorer in the first phase.

Yesterday, Rajasthan Royals pacer Karthik Tyagi bowled one of the magical final overs in IPL history to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat to edge past Punjab in a nail-biting encounter. With 10 runs needed off 15 balls with 8 wickets remaining and two set batsmen on the crease, Punjab never imagined losing the game. It was a crucial game for both Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals to remain in the race for a playoffs spot, and Rajasthan managed to pull off a thrilling win by two runs. When Punjab’s triumph was almost sealed with better cards, Tyagi bowled with great precision to defend four runs in the final over and registered a significant victory for his team.

Asked to bat first, Rajasthan openers offered a quick start to put 185 on the scoreboard. With the kind of start Lewis and Jaiswal produced, Rajasthan was sure to get past anything above 200 effortlessly, but Punjab pacers Shami and Arshdeep brilliant bowling restricted them at 185/10. While Shami used all his experience and skill to constrain Rajasthan in the death overs, Arshdeep had a game of his life by picking a fifer. Arshdeep is the second youngest Indian bowler to take a 5-for in IPL after Jaidev Unadkat. Punjab’s current coach Anil Kumble(5/5 during IPL 2009 in Cape Town), is the only bowler before Arshdeep Singh to take a five-wicket against RR.

Chasing 186, Punjab openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal provided a century partnership, and the game was well in their control till the penultimate over by Mustafizur Rahman. It’s high time for KL Rahul to avoid messing up these straightforward games very often. “It’s a tough one to swallow. We have been a team that has experienced games like these before. We need to see how we can handle pressure better. Trying to finish in the 18th over sometimes you go too hard and lose your way and let the opponents in,” KL Rahul said during the post-match presentation.

Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul became the second-fastest player to score 3000 runs in IPL after Chris Gayle. While it took 80 innings for Rahul to reach 300 IPL runs, the Universal Boss Chris Gayle got to the landmark in just 75 innings. With this win, Rajasthan will manage to stay alive in the competition to qualify for the knockout.
