Paytm India vs England Series: Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes’ presence is a big boost, says, captain Joe Root.
The England Tour of India, 2021, which is going to be played from the 5th of February in Chennai, comprises of 4 Test matches, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is. Test cricket is one of the most entertaining formats of the sport and when it is between two teams that are charged after the victories, it is undoubtedly going to be huge.
India’s incredible triumph against Australia made history and adding the home ground advantage to the spectacular performance of the team might keep them in good stead. England too has had a good start to the year by registering a comprehensive 2-0 win against Sri Lanka in Galle. With five consecutive overseas Test victories, their track record as a touring team is impressive in the format these days.
England will travel to India from Sri Lanka with the first Test scheduled in India. The star players Ben Stokes, Rory Burns, and Jofra Archer had missed England’s recent matches in Sri Lanka as the squad was rotated to allow players to rest during the pandemic. They have now reached Chennai and started training for the big game and will later be joined by the rest of the players.
Archer had bowled England’s Super over in the World Cup against New Zealand which led England to a fairy-tale victory at the iconic Lord’s while Ben Stokes’ tournament-winning performance was instrumental in England’s monstrous win.
Talking about Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes, captain Joe Root said
“You speak to any side in the world, those two guys coming back into it would give the squad a huge boost and it’s certainly the case for us,” said Root.
“We (will be) excited to see them back in and around the squad. Hopefully, they are full of energy and ready to go when they get here.”
He also told the reporters that he expects India to be full of confidence and was all praise for the team.
