The two-time IPL champion, Kolkata Knight Riders come into the IPL 2020 season with a roster of 23 players. Bringing back 13 players from 2019 while adding 10 new players, trading 1 into their roster and releasing 11 before the auction. The knight riders spent a total of 76.5 Crore. The Knights added three additions that should be a surplus in the 2020 season. They brought in veteran 48-year-old leg spinner Pravin Tambe at his base price of INR 20 lakhs. He will most likely be a bench warmer all tournament. Left-arm medium-pace bowler, Harry Gurney at a base price of INR 75 lakhs. Gurney will have little to no role with the purple army. Sandeep Warrier is the third surplus on the team. He will have to learn how to do magic if thinks he is going to play with the return of Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti as two very good Indian fast bowlers. The 27-year-old got his chance in 3 games in the 2019 season and did not impress at all with only two wickets and went wicketless on two occasions. This is going to be an exciting season for the Knights.
