Ireland vs England – Only Test Match
The recent Winner of World Cup, England is playing a test against Ireland in Lord’s, London. One test was scheduled between England and Ireland in Lord’s Stadium of London where England had won the World Cup Trophy for the very first time in the history of Cricket. The team had been on the victory high for a mere 10 days when it had to face Ireland for a Test match.
England batted first in the match and lost wickets fast. The team was all out for a meager total of 85. Joe Denly was the only player to have scored a significant score of 23 and next to him was Olly Stone (19) and Sam Curran (18). Tim Murtagh (5/13) had the best bowling figures among the Ireland Bowlers followed by Mark Adair and Boyd Rankin.
Ireland batted after England but scored a bigger total in no time while also losing wickets fast. The team was all out for a total of 221 which led England to bat next. The first day of the match was concluded after England playing a single over. England batted well in the second day scoring 155/1 (at the time of writing) with Jack Leach scoring 72 runs and Jason Roy scoring 70 runs. The game is still on and it looks like England is back on track.
England concluded their second innings at 303 after which Ireland began their chase. In the first session of Day 3, Ireland’s innings came to an end at a score of 207 from 38 overs. England won the test by 143 runs with Jack Leach winning the player of the match for his extraordinary contribution of 92 runs in the second innings.
