IPL 2022 – Players retained and released

Indian Premier League is all set to go through a major change ahead of the mega auction. While franchises retained players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, a few players like Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal were released.

The current champion Chennai Super Kings have retained their super cool skipper MS Dhoni, who made CSK a solid team in the league. CSK also retained Moeen Ali and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.
While Ravindra Jadeja’s longtime association with the franchise continues, releasing Suresh Raina has shocked the fans. CSK also released Faf Du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahat and Shardul Thakur.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retained Virat Kohli but has not confirmed who will lead the side. Earlier, Virat announced that he would step down from captaincy after IPL 2021. RCB also retained allrounder Glenn Maxwell and pacer Mohammad Siraj. RCB released Chahal, Padikkal, Sundar and Harshal Patel.

As expected, Mumbai Indians have retained Rohit Sharma, who grabbed 5 trophies for the franchise. MI also trusted Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. MI surprised fans by releasing Hardik Pandya along with Ishan Kishan, Trent Boult and Rahul Chahar.

Delhi Capitals retained their lucky boy Rishab Pant. Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje will continue with Delhi. Delhi releasing Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan and Kagiso Rabada were unexpected.

Rajasthan Royals retains Sanju Samson, Jos Butler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. RR decided to send out Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Livingstone, David Miller and Chris Morris.

Kolkata Knight Riders kept their faith in their longtime members Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, along with young Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer. Eion Morgan, Shubman Gill, Ferguson and Nitish Rana were released.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will continue with Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. SRH released David Warner, Bairstow and Manish Pandey.

Punjab surprised everyone by letting KL Rahul, but the franchise retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. Punjab also released Chris Gayle, Pooran and Ravi Bishnoi.
