IPL 2020 Auction: Pat Cummins, Pant among highest paid Players alongside Kohli, Dhoni, & Rohit

IPL 2020 Auction has happened on 19th December 2019 and some exciting trades have been observed. Many talented players like Eoin Morgan, Shimron Hetmeyer, Aaron Finch, Nathan Coulter Nile, Priyam Garg, Sheldon Cottrell, Piyush Chawla, etc. that had their base price at a low level, have been bought at high prices.

The highest-paid player in IPL 2020 (apart from Virat Kohli) Pat Cummins whose base price was set at 2 Crore was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping 15.5 Crores. The man is currently the top-ranked test Bowler in the world. Rishabh Pant who has been playing for Delhi Capitals from 2016 earns 15 crores for IPL 2020.

Alongside these players, England’s Captain Eoin Morgan whose base price was 1.5 crores was bought by KKR for 5.25 crores. Aaron Finch of Australia whose base price was 1 crore was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 4.40 crores. Shimron Hetmeyer whose base price was 50L was bought by Delhi Capitals for 7.75 crores. Robin Uthappa another great player whose base price was 1.5 crores was bought for 3 crores by Rajasthan Royals.

While those were the top auctions among the batsmen, the list for Bowlers goes as follows. Jayadev Unadkat the highest-paid Bowler (11.5 crores) in the previous IPL has now been bought for 3 crores by Rajasthan Royals. Nathan Coulter-Nile of Australia and Sheldon Cottrell of West Indies whose base prices were 1 Crore and 50L were both bought at 8 crores and 8.5 crores respectively. Another great trade among the bowlers was that of Piyush Chawla whose base price was 1 crore and was bought for a whopping 6.75 crores. Kartik Tyagi, Kane Richardson, and Ravi Bishnoi stood out among others as they went from 20L, 1.5 crores, and 20L to 1.3 crores, 4 crores, and 2 crores respectively.

Alex Carey had a mentionable auction among the wicket keepers whose base price was 50L and was bought for 2.4 crores. Glenn Maxwell who made his comeback after a break-in cricket was bought in for 10.75 crores from a base price of 2 crores. Chris Morris and Sam Curran were bought for 10 crores and 5.5 crores from a base price of 1.5 crores and 1 crore respectively. Varun Chakravarthy and Yashasvi Jaiswal are another two mention-worthy auctions that went up to 4 crores and 2.4 crores from 30L and 20L.

Retained players like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, David Warner, etc., still remain among the highest players in IPL 2020. The teams look better than ever this year and the games are predicted to be exciting than ever.
