India vs England T20Is 2021: When, Where, and How to Watch
India has booked a spot in the World Test Championship finals, to be played in June 2021, by winning the Test series against England by a 3-1 lead. The 4- Test series was a thorough adrenaline fest where there were difficult losses followed by stronger comebacks each day. The test series was a delight to watch, as India’s devastating loss followed by the consequent victories achieved much more than a trophy.
Having taken the cricket world by storm, both countries are now gearing up for the 5-T20Is series from the 12th of March in the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, and will be played on alternate days till the 20th of March.
India won their last T20 series against Australia and will look to repeat the series-winning performance while team England, which is reeling from the loss in the Test series will look to overhaul India and go all guns blazing. The underrated rivalry of India and England seems to have grown into a full-blown battle of skills promising a feast for the eyes.
Although Team India has won the longest format, it now needs to shift the focus to the limited over format in which England’s habit of being top-notch and ruthless can pose quite a threat. England is the current world number one team in the ICC T20 rankings table. While India is not far off, it is currently seated at the 2nd position and is quite ready for the jump-up. India’s dominance in the short over format is well known but if it would be enough to triumph against the visitors is a question that the future holds the answer to.
The Indian T20I squad will be led by the dynamic Virat Kohli and includes Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tewatia, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, Deepak Chahar, and Shardul Thakur.
The English team comprises Eoin Morgan (Captain), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Sam Billings, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, and Reece Topley.
With such fine-tuned squads, choosing the Playing XI is going to be a challenge in itself.
