India vs England 5th Test Match from September 10
India registered a stunning 157-run win in the fourth Test against England to take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing five-match series. This is India’s second-ever win in Oval and first at the venue in 50 years. The Virat Kohli-led side dominated the hosts on day 5 to gain a 2-1 lead and aim to clinch the series in Manchester on September 10. Having lost the fourth Test, England must win the last match to level the series.
Rohit Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match for his spectacular century and felt that even Shardul Thakur alongside him deserved it too for his all-around performance. Shardul scored half-centuries in both innings and took two wickets on day 5, providing a solid start. The in-form England skipper Joe Root couldn’t read Thakur’s delivery and fell for him.
The fifth and final Test will be played in Manchester from September 10. If India wins the final match, Virat Kohli-led side will register Test series win in England after 14 years. It was in 2007 under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy, India last won the test series in England. India will play the same team except for Ajinkya Rahane and Bumrah. While Rahane was criticised for his poor performance in the series, Bumrah was dropped due to injury. Hanuma Vihari or Surya Kumar Yadav may replace India vice-captain and Shami in place of Bumrah. Kohli is at the receiving end of criticism for not including Ashwin.
