India vs Bangladesh: Can India Qualify for the Semi-Finals today?
Though India is at the 2nd position on the points table with 11 points, the team is not officially qualified for the Semis as it hasn’t yet acquired the minimum number of points required. 12 is the official number that is required to qualify for the semis. Currently, Australia only is the only team that is officially qualified for the semifinals occupying the first position with 14 points.
India’s performance in the world cup 2019 has been fantastic so far. The team had won all the matches that it had played except one. Its recent defeat against England is the only one that it had faced 6 games it had played. Though the team had lost Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar due to injury, the team had been able to overcome the disadvantages and pull through. Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal replaced the places of two players. Currently, the team has Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Kedhar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, etc.
Bangladesh too had been one of the best performers in the WC tournament. The team had defeated some of the best teams like South Africa and the West Indies. They currently stand at 7 points and still possess a chance to enter the semifinals in a long shot. Bangladesh had completed 7 of the 9 games scheduled and if it wins in the current match against India and the next against Pakistan, the team will reach 11 points and become one of the top four, given that the other competing teams earn less.
Bangladesh has a fantastic team with players like Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, etc. The team’s performance had surprised most of the fans and critics and if there is any team that had stolen the spotlight in the tournament it is Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the strongest teams currently and their skills are not going to be taken lightly by the Indian team. As this is the most important match that can decide the fate of Bangladesh, they will fight hard which can make winning, a very difficult task for India, and the match highly entertaining for the fans. India vs Bangladesh is going to take place in Edgbaston, Birmingham from 09:30 AM GMT.
