Great News for Cricket Lovers- IPL to Begin from 19th of September in UAE
The second half of 2020 has really turned around despite the pandemic still lurking around. News of vaccines reaching final stages, reduction in the number of cases in some countries of the world, and the announcement of most celebrated Cricket Tournament dates have all been lifting people’s spirits for a while.
It has been informed informally that the “Indian Premiere League 2020” that was postponed indefinitely from March 2020 due to pandemic will be organized in the United Arab Emirates from 19th September 2020. While the initial plan was to begin IPL 2020 from September 26th, BCCI has preponed it so that the Indian team could maintain a two-week quarantine according to Australia Government rules before beginning India’s tour of Australia which is scheduled in December.
It was informed that the teams must leave base by August 20th, allowing 4 weeks of training period for each team. The tournament which was supposed to begin in March 2020 was first postponed till mid -July due to the COVID-19 Crisis. Since the whole world was initiating countrywide lockdowns and shutting off foreign visits, IPL was postponed further.
While the official announcement was still to be heard from BCCI, Franchises still have many questions regarding the logistics of the teams, players, and their families. The safety concern is still a major one and since there is still a risk of infection and necessity for quarantine, replacements for the players is going to be a challenge for the franchises. The increased cost of stay is also one of the issues that the franchises must consider.
All the 8 teams namely, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kings XI Punjab are going to contest in the IPL 2020. The series will last till November 8th on which day the final will be conducted between the teams. The schedule of IPL 2020 is yet to be released and despite the many doubts, both the players and the fans are extremely happy about the news.
