England vs West Indies: When Giants Collide- it’s Amazing to Watch
Not a great analogy but we were tired of the few strings of words. Technically, it is apt too, since England is one of the strongest teams in World Cup 2019 and so is West Indies. Both the teams have won their first matches with a huge difference and both the teams experienced a loss.
In its first match, England played against South Africa and won by 104 runs. The team then lost a match against Pakistan and secured a victory in the next against Bangladesh. More or less, a similar fate was experienced by West Indies as it had won its first match against Pakistan by 7 wickets and lost their second match against Australia. The only difference is that West Indies’ third match was left abandoned after a few overs because of rain.
The teams are equally strong and comprised of Ace players in excellent forms. It can be observed in England’s first match against South Africa where most of the Players scored more than half a century. The same performance was repeated in their third match against Bangladesh where the Batsmen destroyed the Bangladeshi bowlers scoring a whopping total of 386. The Bowlers performed with the same enthusiasm and restricted Bangladesh’s score to 280.
West Indies’ performance can be assessed through their performances in the first match where they restricted the Pakistan team to a sparse total of 105. Their chase in just 13.4 overs had earned them a positive run-rate above 5 which was massive in a tournament like this. Though this was reduced by 2 points with their defeat in the next match against Australia, it has become quite an advantage with the abandonment of the next match which gave one point to each of the involved teams. Their performance against Australia can also be considered decent as they had lost the match with a difference of just 15 runs.
At this very moment though it is difficult to accurately predict the outcome of today’s match the act of considering both the teams as super strong is an accurate one. Although to know who has an upper hand, one must watch today’s and decide.
