England vs Sri Lanka: Can we Expect any Records to Break Today?
World Cup 2019 has become the stage for Record-Breaking lately. With top-notch performances from the best teams, the tournament has been an incredible experience for the players and the viewers. With teams like West Indies and New Zealand gaining record victories and teams like England and Australia scoring grander totals, the tournament had become increasingly interesting in the past few days.
The matches between India and Australia, England and Pakistan, India and Pakistan, Bangladesh and West Indies, etc., have been some of the best matches in the tournament with either team making grand totals or defending them with all their might. The same has been observed in yesterday’s match between Bangladesh and Australia. Yesterday’s match recorded the most runs scored in one match by both the teams in a World Cup.
Coming to the present scenario, England is currently one of the strongest teams in the World Cup and is at the third position in the points table with 8 points. The team comprises of fantastic players and has been scoring totals above 300 in most of the matches. They have a good batting line up and bowler that fully support the batsmen in all aspects.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, played 3 matches and won in only one. The team has been lacking coordination and performed well only against Afghanistan. New Zealand had a 10 wicket victory against Sri Lanka and in the other game against Australia, Australia scored a whopping total of 334 runs while restricting Sri Lanka to 247 runs.
Sri Lankan team has fantastic players like Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, Lasith Malinga, Dimuth Karunarathne, Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews, etc. There is a chance of Sri Lanka winning today’s match against England if all the players coordinate and perform well but given the determination of England team and their performances in the past matches, it might be a close to impossible task.
