Bangladesh vs Afghanistan: Today will reveal the real winners of ICC World Cup 2019
Bangladesh and Afghanistan have been performing very well in the World Cup 2019 and both have won the hearts of cricket lovers with their persistence. Bangladesh had managed to secure some amazing wins against some of the strongest cricket teams of the world in the tournament. They have made their stand evident in their first match where they triumphed against South Africa.
By winning against South Africa and West Indies and fighting hard before going down against New Zealand and Australia they have put themselves among the strongest teams of WC 2019. The team comprises of players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, etc., who had displayed magnificent skill in the matches and had led to wonderful victories.
Though not an underdog, Bangladesh was considered a relatively weaker team among the giants like Australia, England, India, and New Zealand. With this tournament, the team had managed to lose this label and become one among them.
Afghanistan is now at the same spot where Bangladesh had stood a few years ago. The team had been increasingly growing its reputation as ever evolving and strengthening by the day. Afghanistan had entered the world cup by with expectations after defeating West Indies in the World Cup Qualifier that had taken place in 2018. They have played 6 matches in the tournament but did not secure even one victory. They have faced devastating defeats against Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and England.
But their persistence and fight till the last breath attitude had kept them going. Their previous match against India was a close call and was thought to be their best game. Afghanistan managed to restrict India to a meager score of 224 runs and managed to score 213 runs before losing all their wickets. Though they had been defeated by India, their game was incredible and was appreciated by everyone.
Today’s match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh would make Bangladesh lose its label of underdog if they manage to win. Though a victory wouldn’t make a difference for Afghanistan in the World Cup, it would certainly lift their spirits up and help them perform with increased confidence in the upcoming matches. Bangladesh had lost their previous match against Australia and are looking to get back on the track with this opportunity and Afghanistan with their previous close call against India would try to win with increased confidence.
