Ashes Test Series 2021 – Australia vs England

Cricket’s biggest rivalry, The Ashes, has begun! Australia and England geared up for the 72nd Ashes series in Australia. Aussies have rattled England for 147 at The Gabba on Day 1 of the first Ashes Test after the rain stopped the play. However, cricket fans had witnessed two entertaining cricket sessions before the play was called off.

Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc (2/35) dismissed Rory Burns on the first delivery to give an exciting start to the series. Josh Hazelwood (2/42) quickly removed David Malan (6) and skipper Joe Root (0) and brought the game in their favor. Cameron Green grabbed his maiden wicket. The newly-appointed skipper Pat Cummins (5/38) took five wickets to bowl England for 147. Australia dominated both the sessions, with their pace bowlers providing necessary breakthroughs regularly. Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins continued to pressurize England batters and never allowed them to bounce back. Except for Jos Butler and Ollie Pope, no other English batters faced the Aussie pace attack.

This series marks the beginning of Pat Cummins as Australia Test skipper and starts with a fifer. With David Warner, Steve Smith, Labuschagne in brilliant form, Australia will hope to bat sensibly and gain a decent first-innings lead. However, England bowlers will be motivated by Australian bowlers would devise a plan to pick early wickets.
